For a book about the history of Stratford: 'Stratford-on-Avon' by Nicholas Fogg (Philimore & Co., 1986: ISBN 0 85033 519 1) (I don't know if it's still in print): and for an entertaining history of the theatre (out of print but well worth looking for second-hand): 'The Stratford Festivals' by T.C.Kemp and J.C.Trewin (Cornish Brothers Ltd., 1953)
